Largest Pyramids in the world
1. La Danta, El Mirador
The La Danta pyramid (right) rises approximately 70 metres (230 ft) tall from the forest floor, and considering its total volume (2,800,000 cubic meters) is now considered to be the largest pyramid in the world.
2. Pyramid of the Sun
The Pyramid of the Sun is the largest building in Teotihuacan, believed to have been constructed about 200 CE, and one of the largest in Mesoamerica. Found along the Avenue of the Dead, in between the Pyramid of the Moon and the Ciudadela, and in the shadow of the massive mountain Cerro Gordo.
3. Bent Pyramid
The Bent Pyramid is an ancient Egyptian pyramid located at the royal necropolis of Dahshur, approximately 40 kilometres south of Cairo, built under the Old Kingdom Pharaoh Sneferu (c. 2600 BC). A unique example of early pyramid development in Egypt, this was the second pyramid built by Sneferu.
